Appendicitis necessitates urgent medical intervention and surgical removal of the appendix. When not treated, appendix inflammation could ultimately rupture or puncture leading to spillage of infection-ridden constituents into the stomach cavity that might be causal to peritonitis (a grave inflammation of the peritoneum) which could be lethal until treatment is administered swiftly via high-strength antibiotic medicines.
