My 20-month-old has been having nightmares and night terrors lately that have forced me to occasionally sleep in her room with her. Last night, when I was attempting to get her to settle back down in her crib instead of sleeping with me on her daybed. she got her whole leg up to the knee over the edge of the crib and began pulling herself up (though she couldn’t very get it). She has been climbing the couch, her toybox, coffee tables and even onto the daybed if she uses a two-inch-tall toy for months now. She is big (30 lbs, 34.5"). I know I will need to acquire a rail for the daybed (which is where she will sleep). I feel it's definitely early to get her out of her crib, so I wondered when other parents had to do it. We can’t afford to purchase a toddler bed to transition her, although we could put her crib mattress on the floor if we had to. My primary worry is that she has been waking up so a lot lately, do to the nightmares and teething. Usually, she’ll put herself back down within a couple of minutes, but I’m afraid that if she is able to get out of bed and to her toys, she is going to be up all night playing. How do I maintain her in her bed if I end up having to take her out of the crib now?
